Petition seeking disqualification of GB caretaker govt accepted for hearing

Gilgit, January 31: The Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Court has admitted a writ petition against the recently sworn caretaker government of the region.
According to details, the writ petition has been submitted by the religio-political party, MWM, seeking disqualification of the govt. They have called the appointment of the ministers and the Chief Minister illegal. The petition was submitted by Advocate Ehsan Ali, on behalf of MWM’s Secretary for Politics Ghulam Abbas, Provincial Spokesman Ilyas Siddiqui and Youth Wing leader Imran Hussain.
Speaking to this reporter, Ilyas Siddiqui said that the current caretaker Chief Minister is a subordinate of the Chief Secretary. He said that Sher Jahan Mir has obtained leave from his job as the head of Karakuram Cooperative Ltd. Bank, to become the region’s Chief Minister.
He also said that the cabinet is partisan and it has bee formed to rig the elections in favor of the ruling party.
