Successful Negotations: Abductors release SCO officials after 23 days
Gilgit/Chilas: The two officials of the Special Communication Organization (SCO) who were abducted three weeks ago from the Darel Valley of Gilgit-Baltistan have been released by the captors after successful negotiations.
After several days of search operation, diplomacy, visit by the Chief Minister and regional army leadership, and efforts of a grand Jirga constituted for the purpose, the two people were today finally released. The kidnappers remain at large.
The two SCO employees, Essa and Amjad, had been abducted on the 3rd of November from Darel valley by gunmen, when they were repairing a tower of SCOM, a cellular company managed by the SCO.
The GB government, through a press release, has thanked the political and military leadership, district administration, intelligence agencies, former Deputy Speaker Malik Maskeen, and members of the grand Jirga for making the safe recovery of the abducted officials possible.
The military and political leadership had warned that if the engineers were not recovered, then a military operation will be launched in the region.
