Pakistan Day celebrated with zeal and fervor across Gilgit-Baltistan
Gilgit/Skardu/Hunza: 23rd March was celebrated across Gilgit-Baltistan to pay homage to the political and religious leaders who in 1940 during a public gathering adopted a resolution that later came to be known as the Pakistan Resolution.
Events were held by government departments and civil society institutes across the region. A rally of mountaineers was a unique event held during a ceremony co-organized by the civil administration and the Pakistan Army in Skardu.
Several schools, colleges and literary groups held events across the region. Boy scouts visited graves of martyrs to offer prayers and pay them respect.
In Islamabad, Governor Gilgit-Baltistan handed over the Presidential Pride of Performance to a son of Yusuf Hussainabadi, whose literary prowess is well-known and acknowledged.
A poetry recitation event was held in Skardu, attended by literary icons and budding poets from many districts.
The day began with a 21-gun salute in Gilgit city.
Prayers were offered for the prosperity and security of Pakistan in Mosques and other places of worship.
