All parties conference: GB to shut down on October 25 against imposition of taxes

GILGIT: An all parties conference in Gilgit agreed to support the decision of trade unions to hold a complete shutter-down and wheel-jam strike on October 25 against the imposition of different taxes in Gilgit-Baltistan.

The meeting unanimously declared the imposition of taxes by GB Council as unconstitutional and violation of the basic rights of the people of Gilgit-Baltitan in absence of representation in national assembly. The local government should play its role in withdrawing the illegal taxes, they demanded.

The meeting agreed to form a committee within two days to make the call successful.

The all parties conference was called by Markazi Anjuman-e-Tajran and participated by the representatives of PPP, PTI, ITP, MWM, JUI (F), Awami Action Committee, Supreme Applet Court Bar Association, High Court Bar Association, Hotel Association, Petroleum Dealers Association, Transport Association, Timber Association and Minerals and Gems Association.
