Mother and daughter swept away by flood in Gunar Farm, injured son rescued

CHILAS: A flood in Meeni village of Gunar Farm, 18 km north of Chilas, has swept away three members of a family. The mother and daughter have died in the tragic accident, according to local reports, while the son has been saved by local rescuers.

The flood has also damaged the Karakoram Highway, and as a result hundreds of vehicles with thousands of passengers are stranded on both sides of the flooded area.

Flashfloods are common in the region, and they take a heavy toll on the lives and properties of the locals. In August last year, a similar flood had killed a person, and damaged properties worth millions of rupees.
