Khowar poetry recitation session held at Brilliance School, Chitral

The Brilliance School of Studies Kosht celebrated literary traditions of Chitral at a literary event “Mehfil-e-Mushaira” on the occasion of Jashne Kosht  held in collaboration with Anjuman-e-Taraqi Khowar Kosht wing on October 25, 2018 at Polo Ground Kosht. Many veteran poets of Chitral graced the event with their presences. A large number of students and community members also attended the event.

Famous poets Inam ullah Siyar, Ghafoor Ahmad Sukhta, Zahid Nishad, Riaz Akhzar, Azmat ullah Azmi shared their views about bring a positive change in the society and recited their compositions on the key theme Beli Tabdeel re ma Zameer Reran.

BSS Kosht as a sole Degree College in the region is playing its role for the holistic development of the youth by providing the opportunity of quality education and co-curricular activities. The literary festival Mehfil-e-Mushaira is part of the institute’s initiative for the promotion of extra-curricular activities. BSS as a progressive institute believes that non-collegiate activities not only provide a platform for the students to express their talents but also plays an active role in the positive development of the whole region. Literature particularly poetry is one of the most significant tradition of Khow culture which has not only been playing role for the development of Khowar literature but also has been crucial for the development of language itself. Khowar poetry being widely followed by people of every age group across Chitral also plays a role of opinion maker.

Speaking on the occasion chief guest Vice Principal Government High School Kosht Mr. Aman Ullah khan highly appreciated BSS for its role in the holistic development of the students in particular and the entire Kosht region in general. He acknowledged the fact that BSS has brought a positive change in the attitude of the youth in the region and expressed his desire and hope that the institute will continue to play is role in the region.

Chief guest of the event also extended gratitude on behalf of Managing Director Mr. Adnan Zainul Abiden to all the participants particularly the poets who dedicated their lives for the protection and promotion of Khowar literature. Mr. Adnan Zainul Abiden’s message emphasised on the importance of education for competing in the era of meritocracy. He urged the students to work hard and achieve excellency in their respective fileds. Mr. Adnan Zainul Abiden aslo requested the parents present on the occasion to keep a close eye on the activities of their children to avoid wastage of time and resources and to extend their care and support at every stage of their life. Sending his gratitude for the organizers of Jashne Kosht Managing Director BSS Kosht also made the announcement of celebrating Jashne Albasan (Bssian festival) each year at polo ground Kosht by the BSS management through the same committees. Jashne Albasan will comprise sports, culture, entertainment and youth development activities. Students will show their talent in the said activities by participating in various competitions.

Director Community Development BSS Kosht Mr. Mustansir Uddin also spoke on the occasion. Shedding light on the vision of BSS he expressed that the mission of BSS is not only an academic development of the students enrolled but it is a community institution founded with the support of community and will serve the whole communit. He also appreciated the role poets of Chitral have played in the development of Khowar literature and in the progress of the whole community. Principal BSS Kosht extended his appreciation to Anjuma-e-Taraqi Khowar for Kosht region for their support in organising an event of such importance. He also thanked all the attendees for participating and making the event successful. He expressed that the youth will take away a positive message from the theme of the literary festival and will be change agents for the progress of the region. In his message for the youth of Kosht he also emphasized on the importance of hard work and determination and said that it is only through education a nation can change its fate. The event was concluded by words of prayer by retired teacher Mr. Rafi Ullah with the hope that this event will be a catalyst for change and progress in the region.
