Anita Karim, Pakistan’s first and only MMA fighter, gets rousing welcome in Islamabad

Youth from different parts of Gilgit-Baltistan came to the Islamabad International Airport to receive Anita Karim, Pakistan’s first and only female Mixed Martial Art fighter.

Born in Karimabad town of Hunza, Anita is breaking stereotypes through her passion.

In an interview Anita Karim had described her feelings in the following words: “I had one thought on my mind – I have to win, not for myself, but for other women. They are considered weak in our society; I want to tell everyone that this sport is for men and women alike. We are strong and can defend ourselves by learning this sport.”
