Scouts get rousing welcome on return to Gulmit, Gojal

Gulmit, June 06: Hundreds of women, men and children had lined up on the road connecting KKH to Gulmit Polo Ground, with garlands in hands and happiness in eyes to welcome the triumphant participants of a very difficult six – days long walk from Gulmit to Gilgit. The Scouts chanted slogans and the Girls Guides and ladies Volunteers showered flowers on them to show their happiness and love.
The scouts arrived in two NATCO buses. It should be kept in mind that all the participants of the walk, from different villages of Hunza and Gojal, had come to Gulmit, before dispersing, to show solidarity with and love for the common cause of development and harmony.
In the form of a procession the scouts were taken to the Gulmit Central Jamat Khana and Secretariat where the procession turned into a decent gathering after lunch. Speakers congratulated the scouts for successfuly completing the walk. The Scouts shared their experiences with community with the help of snaps taken during main occasions.
The scouts, during the course of the walk, covered an average distance of thirty kilometers everyday, walking on foot. They carried the message of love, peace, harmoney and collective development across the region, urging people to be sensitive to the environment.
Addressing the gathering presdident of Ismaili Local Council, Mr Rahim Khan, said that it was a very happy occasion for the Jamat that the scouts had arrived safely. He thanked the Jamats across Hunza Valley and Gilgit, the government officials and other orgnizations for cooperating with the Ismaili Boys Scouts Group and helping them to make the walk a success.
After the gathering in Gulmit, the Scouts left for Passu village where the Jamat was waiting since long time. The Scouts received a very warm welcome from volunteers, Girls guides, Boy Scouts and other community notables. Mr. Ghulam Bai, Mukhi Passu Jamat Khan shared his expereices related to the historical pony track with the participants. He stressed the walk participants to be role model for other youth.
At the end, the walk participants greeted each other with commitmnets to further strengthen the role of Scouting for peace, unity and development.

I m very optimistic that the kind of activities you have done walking all the way from Gulmit to Gilgit will trigger many minds to think and rethink and follow the very good principles you have set.
I wish i would have been there in this journey of many miles.
I hope that the young bloodwould have acquired more from such a fruitful activity.

I would like to congratulate the organizers and leadership of Ismaili Boy Scouts Group, Gulmit for this landmark achievment. I feel proud and satisfied that the group of which I was one of the initial mambers have been so successful in acheiving milestones of such great significance that its effors are appreciated accross the region and country.
I hope the scouts will further strengthen the concept of universal brotherhood of Scout movment and bring a possitive change across the region. I am sure the participants will chearish every moment for the rest of their lives as I still remember every moment of my first camping in 1986.
Keep this healthy tradition up and be more committed to the cause of Scouting.

i present my heartiest congratulations to the management and scouts for the completion of the walk.
you have made all the people realize that you people can change things and bring the youth around a common goal.
The news made me enthusiastic as i remembered the days of my own scouting and organising such events. It is my own experience that things are easy to achieve and change through scouting.
it is a platform which has a membership on the basis of volenteer work and devoting time and energies for the improvement of the society and the betterment of human biengs. It is an Institution where every scout is a brother of other scout. the relation once formed never breaks.
I hope that the scouts in gojal will not only keep this brother hood witin the premises but will expand it to the other areas of North as well.
