Youth summit in Gilgit, by AKYSBP

The Aga Khan Youth & Sports Board, Gilgit region organized a full-day summit for Youth, titled “Youth Leadership Summit [YLS-2008] at Gilgit Serena Hotel on August 9, 2008. The event held with the generous support and cooperation of the SEED (Social and Environmental Education Development Program) of the Serena Hotels and the Aga Khan Rural Support Programme (AKRSP) Gilgit. The underpinning theme of the event was to unlock the latent potentials and talents of the Future Leaders; YOUTH.
The event started with a blend of powerful presentations, creative and innovative activities, interactive sessions, motivational and inspirational speeches from eminent scholars and inspiring movie etc. An important component of the event was the face-to-face and interactive discussion with the Jammati Leadership and AKDN Heads in event called Baithak. This component was widely appreciated by the Leaders and participants as this was a unique opportunity for both to share and express their ideas. The participants got inspiration and guidance from the leaders, while the leaders got an insight of the youth related issues.
The target audience of the summit were youth of age bracket between 17 to 30 years and qualification intermediate and above from Gilgit region include Skardu. Selection criteria were based on the statement of interest written by the applicants at application form. Priority was given to those who shown courage and passion to work for the community and institutions in honorary capacity and are aware and concerned about the Youth related issues. Every effort was made to attract and bring the talented Youth for this summit and acquaint them regarding their roles and responsibilities; as they have to take the charge of leadership roles in future.
The last component of the event was the Cultural Gala, in which the participants showed terrific performance in humoristic skits, dramas, songs and traditional dances. The event concluded with the vote of thanks from the Hon. Secretary AKYSB.
Wow this is a great job done. I congratulate Mr. Sajjad Haider and his team for such a wonderful activity which is need of the hour. The youth has greater potentials and talents but it needs to be directed. I hope the youth must have benefited from this activity. Once again bravo! for this initaitive which is actually the hallmark of AKYSB-Glt.

a woundrful programme was condected by AKYSB at Serena hotel gilgit on bealf of me and my AKYSB team i am very thankful to SEED Serena team for arrangment of such summit. and i requist to all youths to avail this type programmes to inhance their skills. this is really a team work of AKYSB Gilgit. keep it up may God give u courage to condect this type of programme time to time
