Chilas lacks basic amenities of life, hundreds of people protest
PT Report
Chilas, November 28: Hundreds of youth and other residents of Chilas, the headquarters of Diamer district, protested against the lack of basic amenities of life in the town. The protesters had gathered on the call of Diamer Students Federation, a group of youth working for improving the quality of life in the region.
They complained that there was dearth of drinkable water, educational facilities and health facilities in the town. They blamed the administration and the local representatives of turning a blind eye to plight of the people.
One of the most important issues being faced by the people of Chilas is that of power shortage, the speakers said.
The protesters also alleged that government employees were not attending their offices on regular basis, pro-longing the issues of people who gather to the district headquarters from different far flung valleys.
They threatened that the protests will continue if immediate measures were not taken to address the issues.
