World Environment Day celebrated in parts of Gilgit – Baltistan

Hunza: Karakuram Area Development Organization (KADO) organized the World Environment Day at an impressive ceremony held in Karimabad, Central Hunza. The gathering was attended by GB Minister for Local Bodies, Engineer Ismail.
Different cultural and academic programmes were presented by the local community and school children. A walk was also organized to commemorate the day and raise awareness about importance of environment.
Meanwhile, sources from Gojal Valley informed that Khunjerav Villagers Organization-KVO and the management of Khunjerav National Park-KNP have jointly organised “World Environment Day” at the Zero Point, at worlds highest National Park, on the Pak-China border. All school children from KVO jurisdiction reportedly attended the event. Presentations were made by KNP and KVO officials to raise awareness about the international day and importance of conservation and intelligent utilization of the region’s flora, fauna and other natural resources.
Though schools in the jurisdiction of Khunjarab villagers organization Gojal upper Sost (KVO) are always celebrating World Environment day. This year KVO Management included it in their advocacy campaign at high level to show their dedication to protect flora and fauna of the area, this campaign will increase the knowledge, awareness and importance of environment for human being.KVO is always dedicated to improve community involvement in government sector and social sector to mack the program more successful.
Well done KADO and KVO in understanding tomorrow’s need.

As a student of Environmental sciences, I believe that our little bit effort can bring a great change as KADO and KVO have done.
there is a need to create awareness among the youth about our environment and how it influence us and how human being is effecting our beloved planet “the earth” through its activities.
basically environmental day is celebrated every year on 5th June, to realize the importance of our environment. So this year the theme is “Green Economy”. basically it means Industries that provide products or services related to renewable energy, increased energy efficiency, clean transportation and fuels, agriculture and natural resource conservation, and pollution prevention or environmental clean up.
a very gud effort have done by ppl of Gilgit..
i am really happy that these type of international events are being celebrated in gilgit also , i will urge the ppl to celebrate the days of environmental sciences to create awreness..
