Four people killed in Arandu road accident

CHITRAL:  AS many as 4 persons died in road accident at Arandu road in Chitral River.

According to District Police officer Chitral Abdul Rashid, a passenger double cabin pick up number PSC 33 was on its way from Drosh to Arandu, some 90 KM from here. When this ill-fated vehicle reached Jashtangal Mor (turn) it plunged into Chitral river. Two people died on the spot due to impact of the accident while a woman and a child drowned in the river. Dead bodies of the drowned persons could not be found till filing of this report.

The victims were identified as Saeed Ahmad, Abdul Rehman, wife of Ghulam Hazrat. Name of the child could not be identified.

Driver of the vehicle Sibghatur Rehman son of Raza Shah was badly injured and is currently under treatment at Tehsil Headquarters Hospital, Drosh. It is worth to mention here that Arandu is situated on Pak Afghan border area its 45 KM road from Drosh to Arandu is unpaved and passes close to the bank of Chitral river having no side walls or any other protection fencing. Accidents on the road are a routine, locals informed.
