Chitral, January 2:  Chitral has been reconnected to the web-world after eight days service disruption. The Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) and Pakistan Telecommunication Corporation (PTCL) service had been out of service in Chitral for days, causing great difficulties for users.

Officials said that the service was disrupted due to de-linking of NERA repeater at Lawari top, because of snowfall. The tower was also damaged last year, causing widespread jamming of internet service in the district.

This scribe had contacted Dr. Riaz Inayat, Executive Vice President PTCL Islamabad office  regarding failure of DSL service in Chitral on which he took immediate action and directed his staff based at Temargara and Chitral for restoring DSL service at Lawari top. A team was detailed for this purposes under supervision of Mujahidullah, Senior Engineer of PTCL.

They hired local people from Ziarat and Ashriat having experiences of climbing on the snow capped Lawari top, supported by a technical person of NERA. The team was able to repair the damaged tower at Lawari top and restored DSL and media service of PTCL.

It is worth to mention here that there is great potential of DSL consumers and hundreds of people visiting Telephone Exchange Chitral for DSL connection but they are frustrated  because of limited connection. Social and political circle of Chitral have appealed to high ups of PTCL for installing Optical Fiber link for DSL  Broadband service at Chitral to address DSL issue at Chitral.
