Jutal village hit by floods in Gilgit

Gilgit, August 3: Flashfloods in Jutal village have destroyed valuable land and damaged property, crops and houses, of the residents.
According to details, a flood hit the Jutal Nullah (glacial stream) at around 2 O’clock yesterday, causing destruction of property. The local people have appealed to the regional government officials to visit the village and assess the damage, and ensure timely compensation and relief for the affected families.
The locals complained that they were not compensated in 2007 and 2010 when similar floods had struck.

We would expect with District disaster management to address the issue immediately with the collaboration of District administration and other service providing agencies as well.
