Gilgit-Baltistan govt approves 16 hydro-power and electricity projects

Gilgit, January 27: The government of Gilgit-Baltistan today decided to propose sixteen hydro-power and electricity generation projects for approval of the Executive Committee of National Economic Council (ECNEC). The projects are likely to cost around around 12855.993 million rupees. On completion, the projects are likely to add around 42 mega watts of power to the regional grid.
The projects approved by the Chief Minister are phase III of the 16MW Naltar Power Project, Sherqilla Power Project (1MW), Bagrote Power Project (3.5MW), Danyore Power Project (1MW), Darmandar Gupis Power Project (2.5MW), Nasirabad Hunza Project (1 MW), Batugah (2.5MW), Raikot (1Mw), Hisper Hydral Project (2 MW) among others.
The meeting was also attended by Engineer Ismail, Minister for Water and Power, officials of the P&W department.
