[Gilani in Gilgit] PM reached Gilgit, breifed by secretaries
GILGIT, Sep 29 (APP): Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani on Tuesday said the government would utilize the hydro and mineral resources of Gilgit Baltistan for the benefit of the area people.The Prime Minister stated this after he was briefed by the Chief Secretary and Home Secretary on administrative and financial matters of Gilgit Baltistan, at the Force Command Northern Areas (FCNA) Auditorium here.The Prime Minister said the government would not ignore far-flung areas of the country and was taking concrete steps to bring them at par with other developed cities.
He said the government’s comprehensive economic package for Gilgit Baltistan would improve the living standard of the area people.
Chief Secretary Babar Yaqub Fateh Muhammad briefed the Prime Minister on the transition plan of self-governance, economic package and law and order in the area.
He also apprised the Prime Minister on various subjects including poverty alleviation, agricultural diversification and public private partnership for social sector in Gilgit Baltistan.
Home Secretary Muhammad Usman Yunus briefed Prime Minister Gilani on Diamer Bhasha Dam and about the resettlement and rehabilitation plan for the affected people.
