Karachi, September 29: Chairman of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, has openly admitted that people of Gilgit – Baltistan do not want to be identified and attached with Kashmir.

Talking to media in New York he said, “I know that the people of Gilgit – Baltistan don’t want to attach themselves with kashmir […] want to annex with Pakistan, and people have the right to be with anyone according to their will”.

This statement from the top democratic Kashmiri leader shows the general sentiments of people of Gilgit – Baltistan.

It also reflects the “new reality” that self proclaimed defenders of the rights of Gilgit – Baltistan, political leaders of Kashmir, will have to live with and accept  in the times to come.

  1. All the Kashmiri leader’s are shouting on Gilgit-Baltistan’s new journey, at least one of them has got good idea’s.

  2. Dear Readers:
Mir Wiaz Umer Farooq, Yasin Malik, Amanullah Khan, Ali Shah Gilani, Moulvi Abbas Ansari, Sardar Atique, Sardar Ibrahim, Raja Zulqarnain etc ought to accept the separate identity of Gilgit-Baltistan. For last six decades various committees were formed, conventions held, joint conferences organized and liberation movements remain active to highlight the issue of Kashmir at a broad spectrum but mainstream political parties, civil society, lobbyists and youth of Gilgit-Baltistan was never given space to build consensus to determine the future of Kashmir. People of Gilgit-Baltistan extend unconditional support for the right of self-determination of Kashmir and at the same time they will never allow to undermine the identity the region. The leadership and the people of Kashmir should understand the changing political dynamics.

  3. but the statement you have qouted here says, “do want to attach themselves with kashmir…” i hope it is a typo error!
