Gilgit: Masked men free murder convict, two police officials injured

Gilgit, March 27: Masked men attacked police officials in the District Headquarters Hospital (DHQ) and took away a murder convict, along with officials’ guns. Two policemen were injured in the incident.

According to details, Imran Hussain, a man sentenced to death for the murder of a government employee named Anwar Jan, was freed by his alleged companions when he was taken to the DHQ Hospital for a medical check-up.

Unknown gunmen, reportedly, entered the hospital building and started firing on the police officials, injuring two. They took away the convicted murderer along with guns snatched from the police officials.

The police later conducted search raids in different parts of the city but to no avail.
