Relief goods from Pakistan handed over to Chinese officials at Khunjerab Pass

Hunza, June 12: The Chairman National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) Lt Gen (Retd) Farooq Ahmed Khan has officially handed over a consignment of relief goods comprised of 30 thousands tents in 7 containers to the Chinese official at Pak Khunjerab Pass. The Deputy Ambassador of China to Pakistan, Mr. Yao Jing, Mutahir Shah, Acting Chief Secretary Northern Areas, Muhammad Usman, District Commissioner Gilgit, Suqrat Rana, and Assistant Commissioner Hunza were also present at the occasion.
The relief goods have been sent on special directives of Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gillani as an effort to support its time-tested friend in its time of need.
The Government of Pakistan has already sent a mobile surgical team comprising Pakistani doctors and paramedics and other basic items including blankets, tents, mineral water and plastic mates to support in the relief and rescue efforts of Chinese Government in the earth quake hit area.
The Gansu province of China was hit by an earthquake on May 12, measuring 7.9 on Richter scale, which killed thousands and left many thousands homeless and damaged properties.
