[PT Election Cell] Re-polling held in LA – 3, despite boycott by contenders

Gilgit, November 18: Aftab Haider of Pakistan People Party has emerged victorious in LA – 3, Gilgit, according to unofficial results obtained by Pamir Times. Polling was held in four stations of the constituency today, amid boycott calls and protests by MQM, PML and Independent candidates.

According to details Aftab was able to get 62 votes in Danyore, 51 votes in Mohammad Abad, 428 votes in Oshikandas and 389 votes in Jalal Abad. These votes took his earlier vote count from 5074 to 6006.

Meanwhile an independent candidate named Mehboob Ali and MQM ticket holder Captain (r) Hadi were arrested, along with thirty of their supporters on allegations of creating law and order situation in Danyore town, located at the Southern side of Gilgit city.

Earlier in the day police had resorted to heavy aerial firing to disperse supporters of these candidates, after they clashed with the police while protesting against alleged rigging.
