Presıdent vows to stand by the flood affectees

ISLAMABAD, Aug 21: President Asıf Alı Zardarı vowd that the federal government would extend all possible support to calm and pacıfy the sufferings of the flood victims in Gilgit-Baltistan while talkıng to the governor and chief minister of Gilgit-Baltıstan ın Islamabad.

Governor Gilgit – Baltistan Dr Shama Khalid and Chief Minister Syed Mehdi Shah called on President Asif Ali Zardari at the Aiwan-e-Sadr in Islamabad and discussed the situation in Gilgit Baltitan regarding the damages caused due to floods and land slides as aresult of recent torrential rains .

President Asif Ali Zardari directed the CM and governor to make use of all available resources for the relief and rehabilitation of flood affected people of Gilgit – Baltistan region. The president also sought details  pertaınıng to human and property loses,  and the measures taken for provision of relief and rehabilitation of the afectees.  The Governor and Chief Minister briefed the President regarding the measures being taken in collaboration with the federal government for the relief and rehabilitation of the flood victims.

The President assured that the federal government would extend all possible support to calm and pacify the sufferings of the flood victims in Gilgit-Baltistan and help rebuild their damaged homes and property. He said that the central government ıs ready to extend all possıble support to the flood afectees of the whole country including Gilgit-Baltıstan.

The President said he had already requested the Chinese government to provide immediate relief and airdrop aid in parts of Gilgit-Baltistan that are inaccessible from Pakistan side. He also thanked the Chinese government for the assistance rendered during the Attabad Disaster.
