Gilgit, January 15: Thousands of the residents of Gilgit suffered for 50 hours without electricity due to delays in repairing of a leaked water tank at  the 18 MW Naltar Hydel Power Plant.

According to reports the locals of Naltar had cut off water supply for the Power House fearing that the leaked tank might burst and unleash a disaster in the valley. The locals had identified a leak in the water tank and informed the authorities, demanding quick fixing of the issue to avoid any eventualities. The authorities’ laxity led to compounding of the fear and the citizens themselves cut off water supplies for the tank.
