Skardu, February 6: A Russian mountaineer, Vitaliy Gorelik, has scummubed to his injuries and died at the base camp of K2, the second highest peak of the world. He was injured in January during the K2 winter expedition, losing fingers of both his hands to frostbite.
Vitaliy Gorelik had been shifted to the base camp but due to inclement weather he could not be taken to Skardu for medical treatment.
