Ghizar: Protesters call off strike after government assurance on restoration of wheat price

Gahkuch, February 17: Protester peacefully called off a mammoth sit-in after assurance by government that the wheat price hike will be reversed.

According to details, the thousands gathered in Gahkuch, district headquarters of Ghizar, started returning to their villages after assurance by GB Minister for Excise and Taxation, Mohammad Naseer, promised that their demand for reversal of the price hike will be accepted. He said that a notification to that effect will be issued by February 25.

The protesters have said that an even larger protest movement will be launched if the promised notification is not issued within the given deadline.
