Japan to provide around USD 100K for construction of women vocational center in Shigar

Islamabad, February 22: Japanese has agreed to provide around USD 100, 000 (approx. Rs 8.2 million) grant to Al-Shehbaz Tanzeem Khawateen for women vocational training centre construction in Shigar sub-division of Gilgit- Baltistan.
An agreement to that effect was signed by Japan’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Hiroshi OE & President of NGO Ms Skina Bi here Wednesday. Grant will be utilized to construct training centre, procurement of furniture and equipment. Centre will train women of project area and its surroundings by offering training courses in sewing, beauty treatment, knitting, candle making, embroidery. It is expected about 750 female will be trained annually to improve income level and social status.
Hiroshi said promoting vocational training was one of priorities in Japan s assistance policy for Pakistan. He hoped centre will provide opportunity to women earn and improve living standard of their families. He said such assistance by government and people of Japan will further cement existing friendly relations between people of Japan and Pakistan.
