Snow Avalanche kills five members of a family in Garm Chashma Valley

Chitral, March 20: Five members of a family were killed in Garam Chashma Valley after their house was hit by a disastrous avalanche last night.
According to District Police Officer Chitral, a heavy avalanche hit house of Sardar at Waht village of Garamchishma at night time, killing five people on the spot. Thee dead were identified as Rashida Bibi, 28, wife of Sardar, Sufaida Bibi, 16, daughter, Zareen Bibi, 9, daughter, Shahida Bib, 18, daughter of Rahim Shah and Nidah Bibi, 3, daughter of Sardar.
Local volunteers, Chitral scouts and Chitral police reached on the spot and started rescue activities, recovering four bodies, except that of three year old Nidah.
The main road of Garam Chashma, Mastuj and upper chitral are also close due to snowfall, land sliding and avalanche.
very sad news. It is sad to know the community based mitigation and preparedness interventions are yet missing in those most vulnerable locations. Prayers to rest their soul in eternal peace.
