Girls College Booni faced with multiple issues

CHITRAL: Government Girls Degree college Booni founded in 2002 while classes started in July 2009. This is the only Girls college for thousands of female students of Sub division Mastuj . At present 835 students are enrolled at the college. Its hostel has the capacity to house only 50 students. Member Provincial Assembly Haji Ghulam Muhammad has inaugurated another hostel for 50 students with the grant of 14 million and after completion of this hostel total 100 students could be accommodated here.
Recently a function was held at the college in which the principal, Hasina Wajib, said that the college was facing acute shortage of teaching staff. It was highlighted that there were no lecturers for subjects like Physics, Political Science, Statistics, Geography, Pakistan Study, since establishment of the college. She also highlighted other issues faced by the college.
Other speakers, including Chairman Fazal Rehman, Sub Major (r) Qalandar Shah, students of girls college also voiced the same concerns. The shortage of buses was also highlighted as a major issue, along with absence of piped water for drinking and shortage of books at the college’s library.
MPA Ghulam Muhammad assured support for the college and announced that Campus of Benazir University Sheringal will be opened at Booni in near future. He also visited ongoing work of hostel building and emphasized on contractor and supervision staff C &W department to not use any substandard quality material in this building. Because the college building and examination hall having big cracks in its wall and ceiling due to substandard materials. A play ground was also demanded for girls students of the college.
