Governor summon GBLA budget session

Gilgit, June 18: GB Governor Syed Pir Karam Ali Shah has summoned the budget session of Gilgit – Baltistan Legislative Assembly. The Finance Minister, Muhammad Ali Akhtar, is likely to present the annual budget for 2012-13 during the session.

It is pertinent to note that GB is highly dependent on Islamabad for budget allocations. Resistance of the local people to attempts aimed at imposition of taxes has left the GB government in quandary, without own resources.

The federal government has allocated a lump sum amount for GB during the current fiscal year. The same amount will be distributed in different heads and approved by the GBLA.
