GB budget approved, 4000 contract employees to be regularized

Gilgit: The Gilgit Baltistan Legislative Assembly in its session held in Gilgit on Friday unanimously passed the budget 2012-13. Chief Minister Syed Mehdi Shah thanked thepment.
He said power sector has been given top priority in the budget and projects of thirty four megawatt capacity would be launched . Two thousand kilometers roads will be carpeted. Addressing on the occasion he announced to regularize the services of four thousand (4000) contract employees serving in water and power department. Syed Mehdi Shah said soft term loans will be provided to two thousand youth enabling them to create self employment. He said in the budget books and uniform will be provided to deserving students under Para Lekha Gilgit Baltista scheme to increase literacy rate in the area.
Some members objected to equal allocation of funds to technocrats and special-seat members and the elected representatives.
Later‚ speaker adjourned the session till indifinate time.
