Our Correspondent
Skardu, August 26: In a first of its kind event, foreign tourists stranded in Skardu for almost two weeks staged a protest demonstration at the Skardu Airport. The tourists told journalists that they have been stuck in the region since August 16, the day 19 people were gunned down by terrorists in Naran Valley.
The protesting foreigners, hailing from half a dozen countries, demanded special flights for moving out of the region. They said that for several days their tickets were not being confirmed by the PIA officials.
The tourism industry in GB is at the verge of destruction due to terrorist attacks and volatile law and order situation across the Gilgit – Baltistan region.
