Passport Office to be inaugurated in Chilas today, arms licences for “reputable” people in “troubled areas”

Islamabad, February 08: Federal Interior Minister, Rehman Malik on Thursday said that separate NADRA and passport offices for women would be opened in Gilgit-Baltistan region to facilitate the population. He was co-chairing a cabinet meeting of Gilgit-Baltistan with Chief Minister of GB, Syed Mehdi Shah here.

The meeting approved new NADRA/Passport offices to be opened in Hunza-Nagar within the next two weeks. NADRA office was also approved for Sub-Division Tangir of District Diamer. Passport office will be inaugurated in Chilas within next twenty-four hours, it was said yesterday.

Arms licences will be given to the general public, based on their reputation, to counter the menace of violence in troubled areas, where criminals were creating havoc it was said. It was emphasized that all legal formalities will be followed while awarding the licences.

Rehman Malik directed Director General Immigration & Passports and the Chairman, NADRA to place all these facilities within two weeks in the approved locations . The Interior Minister has already sent a summary for raising of one wing of the GB Scouts as per the request of the Chief Minister GB to cover the security of Diamer Bhasha Dam.— APP
