Heavy rain across Gilgit-Baltistan, traffic on KKH suspended

Gilgit, May 26: Heavy rainfall has occurred in almost all parts of Gilgit-Baltistan during the last 48 hours. Traffic on the Karakoram Highway has been suspended due to landslides caused by the downpour.

According to details, the KKH has been blocked at Tata Pani area, close to Chilas city, in Diamer District. A traveler posted a photograph in which the KKH is blocked by a minor landslide in front of Jalalabad village of Gilgit district.

Reports of road blockade have also been received from Gojal valley, upper Hunza, where the traffic between Sost and Gulmit is said to be suspended due to rockfall and landslides.

The districts of Kohistan, Shangla, Abbottabad and Mansehra also received heavy rainfall yesterday.
