Chitral: Project started to save Booni-Mastuj Road

Chitral, February 16: A project was inaugurated today to protect Booni Mastuj road and Danin Lasht, as well as cultivable land near District Jail Chitral. The project was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner Chitral Muhammad Shuaib Khan Jadoon today.

Chitral Integrated Area Development Program (CIADP) has allocated around 7.1 million rupees for this purpose and the project is executed by Creative Approach for Development (CAD).

In this connection a function was also held on river belt near the bank of Chitral river where DC Chitral operated a bulldozer to remove sand and debris for excavation of the land for foundation of protection embankment, symbolically inaugurating the project.

Program coordinator of CIADP Asfandiyar Khan said that district government of Chitral recommended this plan for protection of Booni Mastuj road as well as to save district jail, houses and number of government and private schools and colleges situated on the bank of Chitral river which are directly hit by river if a protection wall was not constructed timely. DC Chitral while inaugurating this plan stressed upon the local people to point out such public interest matter and to play your role in its succession. He said that this is a mercy of Norwegian government who have kicked developmental and rehabilitation as well as protection plans worth billion of rupees.

Some local people said that their cultivable land and standing crops were damaged by flood in 2010 including Booni road and now their houses are also severe threatened. A large number of elders of the area participated the opening ceremony of protection wall, spur at Danin who also thanked CAD and CIADP for providing fund for this project.
