Islamabad, February 15: Mehmoood Mathour, a filmmaker hailing from Ghulkin village of Gojal Valley, Upper Hunza, has won the Best Cinematography Award for his film Koh-e-Barobar, in which he has portrayed the achievements of Samina Baig, the young mountaineer from Shimshal Valley.

The film was presented at International Film Festival at LUMS, aka FiLUMS, in Lahore. FiLUMS is believed to to be the largest film festival in Pakistan and one of the largest in South Asia.

The young filmmaker, talking to Pamir Times, said that he had developed the film as a thesis work for completion of his degree at the prestigious National College of Arts, where he studied films.

“Out of more then 100 films my thesis film was considered as the best Cinematographed film”, said Mehmood. He also said that Koh-e-Barobar is a 16 minutes film.

The FiLUMS jury comprised of reputed filmmaker like Saeed Noor, Bilal Lashari and Sarmad Khoosat. Mehmood’s film also won certificate of distinction for his film from the jury.
