IGP orders withdrawal of “Shoulder Promotion” given to police officials in Gilgit-Baltistan
With reporting by Abdul Rehman Bukhari
Gilgit, September 30: Inspector General of Gilgit-Baltistan, Saleem Bhatti, has ordered withdrawal of shoulder promotion awarded to police officials in the region, allegedly based on personal likes and dislikes.
The order was issued today.
It is pertinent to note that various junior officials had temporarily been promoted to higher ranks by senior officers without following due-procedure and diligence.
The withdrawal of the temporary, symbolic, promotions was opposed by Chief Minister Syed Mehdi Shah in the assembly session last week. He had said that withdrawal of the promotions will be result in discouragement for the affected officials.
However, Police sources have said that promotions had led to disorganization and mismanagement within the police department.
