Transparency: Make merit lists for Medical and Engineering seats public, demand students

Islamabad: The students of Gilgit-Baltistan have been demanding of the Gilgit-Baltistan government to make the lists of students nominated for medical and engineering quota seats in different institutions of Gilgit-Baltistan.

“Both the government of GB and the department of Education have their own websites but they are not posting the lists there”, said Karim, one of the hundreds of student who have submitted documents for the seats. He said that by not showing transparency, the DOE officials are creating suspicion. “They are trying to hide the names of the students for some suspicious reasons”, Karim opined.

In the past, the DOE officials have been accused of sending their dear and near ones on seats reserved for meritorious students.

“The Ministry of Education, against which allegations of illegal recruitment were proved, can do itself a service by being more transparency in its dealings”, said Nisa, another candidate.
