Gilgit, December 12: Renowned banker Sher Jahan Mir sworn-in as the caretaker Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan in a ceremony at governor house Gilgit on Friday. The Governor Gilgit-Baltistan Pir Karam Ali Shah administered the oath in presence of the outgoing CM, members of GBLA and other dignitaries.
Mr. Sher Jahan Mirs’ appointment was notified after consensus was developed between the leader of opposition and chief minister GB. He will hold the office till the execution of the next election in Gilgit-Baltistan.
The other two proposed names were Justice (rtd) Altaf Hussain and Jahangir Khan. According to media reports Mr. Altaf Hussain has refused to take the position and the health issue of Jahangir Khan has presented him to opt for the slot.
