PIA to start Gilgit-Skardu flights from spring, court told

Gilgit: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) today told the Supreme Appellate Court of Gilgit-Baltistan that the national flag carrier plans to start flights between Skardu and Gilgit from the beginning of the spring season. This has been said in a report submitted by PIA during the hearing of a suo moto case chaired by SAC Chief Judge Justice Dr. Rana Shamim. Justice Raja Jalaluddin and Justice Muzafar Ali were also part of the full-bench hearing.

The court had earlier directed PIA and other airliners to start flights between Skardu and Gilgit to facilitate the passengers. However, this was not complied by the corporations, due to which the Supreme Appellate Court took a suo moto action.

Pakistan State Oil and Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) were directed by the Supreme Appellate Court to facilitate PIA in the operations of the Skardu-Gilgit flight.

According to a press release, the court has also issued bailable arrest warrant for officials of Shaheen Airline, who had failed to appear in the court despite of a notice sent earlier.
