Women’s Rights

Gul Rehan

Gender equality is critical to the development and peace of every nation. Kofi Annan

Growing up as females has never been easy. Maybe when they were still kids, things were not strikingly different for little boys and girls. Yet, females, as they grow up, may face a lot of disturbances or discrimination from people around them and worse, from their parents sometimes, in the case of determining their own happiness and their futures. In my viewpoint, women have the rights to live their lives as they want to and to make their dreams come true – free from fear of abuse or force since these are basic human rights everybody is entitled to.

Women, in my opinion, must gain access to live their lives as they want to – to feel the freedom. Some cultures may force little girls to marry early the men who are far older than those little girls are or they are forced to get married with a person whom she has not seen and even understand him. At that time, these child brides do not have the rights to even refuse the marriage set for them. Little girls who are supposed to enjoy playing with their friends have to give birth to their babies whose ages are not that far from those little ‘wives’. This happens due to gender discrimination – a condition where girls are not entitled to education and there is no other choice but marriage.

Everyone knows Islam claims that it is a complete code of life. Therefore, Islam is not only complete code of life for men it is also complete code of life for women as well. It gives equal rights to men and women. It is very important for everyone that there is a big difference of meaning between the words “Equal” and “same”. A woman and men cannot same physically so their rights can also same due to their duties. Women can be said as God’s complete creation she is a symbol of independence, love, Care, Gentleness and intensity. Women are emotionally stronger than men. Women endure much more pain than men do. Margaret Thatcher, Benazir Bhutto and Indira Gandhi have shown that women can rule a country even better than men and may be even the World.

If we see in our society that more than half of the total rape cases go unreported. The society makes the face victim pay for someone’s mistakes unwed. Mothers are verbally and physically abuse in public places. In addition, women have the rights to make their dreams come true. They have the rights to access education as high as they can attain. They have the rights to be smart and to be successful. The rights of women in Pakistan as contrasted with men are alarming hopeless. She is undoubted dealt with injustice and unfairness in the society. She is badly deprived of her fundamental rights. Education is the basic rights which can make her empowerment not only in the society but also financially and professionally as well.
Today’s society is changing with the passage of time and I hope the rights of women will be given to them.

In conclusion, I encourage women from all classes to appreciate themselves by improving their statuses both through education and through their renewed ways of thinking to make better futures.
