Gilgit, Feb 8: The house of Deputy Director of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) was attacked in this morning at around 7:30 am in Jutial locality of Gilgit. Two gunmen shot at the house and torched one of its doors, said police.
According to details, two gunmen fired shots at house of Abdul Majid, Deputy Director NAB and set fire to a door of the house, before fleeing. No injuries were reported. The government official, who is investigating fraud and corruption cases in the region, and his family members were sleeping at the time of the attack. None was hurt.
Later in the day, CID Police Operation Team led by Basharat Hussain reported arrest of two suspects in the case.
The suspects have been identified as Abdur Rehman son of Alif khan, a resident of Muslim Colony, Kondas. Rehman, who is a servant at the DD’s house, was arrested along with his friend identiifed as Abdul Qadir.
Police told Pamir Times that a 30 bore pistol was also recovered from the accused. An investigation is underway to ascertain the motive of the attack.
