Three Gilgit-Baltistan related road projects approved by CPEC Joint Working Group

Islamabad: The Joint Working Group of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project approved three important road construction and expansion schemes in Gilgit-Baltistan.

The projects approved include construction of the Ghizer-Chitral-Chakdara road, at the cost of 22 billion rupees, repair and expansion of the KKH between Raikot (Diamer) and Dassu (Kohistan), and completion of the on-going Thakot – Havelian bypass road by April 2018.

The meeting was attended by Chinese and Pakistani officials, who also approved several other projects, including the Karachi Circular Railway (KCR) project, which aims to address the transportation woes of the country’s largest city.
