GB traders protest against imposition of taxes

GILGIT: Traders across Gilgit-Baltistan observed shutter-down and wheel jam strike on Thursday, protesting the imposition of taxes in Gilgit-Baltistan under GB Tax Adaptation Act 2012.

The strike on Thursday remained successful in 8 districts of the region whereas traders in Diamer and Astore districts have announced to join the strike on Friday.

The protest call was given by Anjuman-i-Tajran and Awami Action Committee (AAC) and backed by all major political and religious parties in Gilgit- Baltistan.

Meanwhile, protesters at Skardu’s Yadgar Chowk called on the government to withdraw all taxes imposed in Gilgit-Baltistan under GB Tax Adaptation Act 2012.

The trade bodies have announced the protests till the government meets their demands.
