Govt’s spring plantation campaign gains mass traction in Gilgit-Baltistan

Gilgit : The Chief Minister Gilgit Baltistan Hafeez Ur Rehman today spoke very well of the commitment to the cause shown by Forest Department as the Spring Tree Plantation Campaign began just few days back is in full swing through out GB Gilgit Baltistan as a massive response from the community is being marked.
The Forest Department was briefing him about what has been done so far to make the campaign success. The department was again directed to keep him informed about achievement on daily basis. The Secretary Forest Asifullah Khan accompanied by Secretray Information Fida Hussain participated trees plantation activity in an army installation on Friday as part of the monitoring of the campaign. Forest Nurseries whether already established previously or set up temporarily to facilitate people are witnessing a hustle and bustle following the plantation began. Response from the public has been very encouraging and if things go this way we would achieve not only ours target for sure but also we shall go beyond the target, an official of Forest Department said.
The official further said this time around department has not just paid attention on plantation tree but an effective strategy has been put in place to verify the claims of plantation by third party. Authorities of Forest Department sounded anxious about the global warming and said onus on the shoulder of department calls for action on war footing basis to come up with solution of variations taking place globally.
Meanwhile, Secretary Forest Department Mr. Asifullah directed the officers to keep in close touch with the community and partners of the campaign and learn the need of people and provide trees in accordance with the Standard Operating Procedure. A complaint cell was also set up to come to know about public issues.
