PAC orders recovery of 2.6mn rupees from Misgar Power Project contractor, also finds irregularities in purchase of generators for Skardu
Gilgit: The Gilgit-Baltistan Public Accounts Committee (PAC) on Tuesday ordered recovery of 2.6 million rupees from a contractor hired by the government during construction of the 2MW Misgar Hydro Power project, located in Gojal Valley Hunza.
The Public Accounts Committee in a meeting chaired by Capt. (r) Sikandar Ali, concluded that 2.6 million rupees were illegally paid to the contractor without following the rules, causing losses to the exchequer.
The committee also observed that contracts for purchase of generators for Skardu were given to an “Al-Fajr Company”, in violation of the PEPRA rules. The company was awarded the contract by technically eliminating the competitors, observed the PAC members. The company was paid to the tune of 58 million rupees for the said purchases.
