Gilgit-Baltistan officials directed to stop taking selfies with female staff, guests, and sharing on social media

Gilgit: Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan has directed government officials to stop taking selfies with female colleagues, and guests during events, and sharing the photographs on social media.

In a letter addressed to the region’s Chief Secretary, it has been highlighted that some officer/officials of various departments take selfies during meetings and events with female participants and colleagues and share the same on social media.

The Chief Minister has been quoted as saying that taking selfies with female colleagues and sharing them on social media through Facebook and Whatsapp is against the society’s norms.

It is pertinent to note that some key elected officials also upload their selfies taken with women. They also draw satire and criticism from social media users, who accuse the elected representatives of appearing to be naive, or desperate.
