GILGIT: The Accountability Court, Gilgit on Monday, convicted two officers of Excise and Taxation Department, Gilgit-Baltistan included Mohammad Ali Yougvi, Ex- Secretary Excise and Taxation Department and Gojar Khan, Ex-Section Officer ETO on charges of misuse of authority.
The court has awarded them with a rigorous imprisonment of 5 years and a fine of Rs. 3.1 Million and Rs one million respectively. Furthermore, the accused persons were also sentenced to one-year imprisonment and one lac fine, on account of disappearance of evidence.
Both of the accused were arrested by NAB-GB after the final judgment of Accountability Court.
The convicted persons were involved in 23 illegal appointments in Excise and Taxation Department GB in violation of service rules and codal formalities causing a loss of Rs. 3.1 Million to the national exchequer.
