GILGIT: A father has reportedly jumped in the Gilgit River, ending his life, after his 11-year old daughter was kidnapped and subjected to sexual abuse. According to some reports, the family originally belongs to Tangir valley. They were living in Skarkoi area of Gilgit city.
Abduction of the girl reportedly took place a week ago.
Father, name withheld for reasons of privacy, reportedly approached the police to get justice, but the “lackluster response” frustrated him, locals told the media.
Unable to get quick justice for his daughter, he took the fatal step of ending his life.
The incident has sent shockwaves through the region, with people expressing their anger and disgust on social media platforms.
Advocate Amjad Hussain, President of Pakistan People’s Party Gilgit-Baltistan, has expressed shock and anger at the incident. He has demanded justice for the child and her family.
