PT Report
Hunza, February 6: The Geological Survey of Pakistan has sent three of its staff members to the Miachar village in Nagar Valley to investigate a landslide that has been worrying the locals for the last several years.
The Assistant Commissioner of Nagar sub-division has informed the media that the survey team will spend three or more days in the valley and study the landslide in detail, to ascertain future scenarios. The report expected from the GSP team will also contain projected impact of the landslide and it will make recommendations for evacuation or otherwise, in view of the intensity of the threat, he said.
It is pertinent to note that the land of Miachar has slowly been drifting towards the Hunza River and the scars on the land are becoming wider with the passage of time. The locals fear that not addressing the threat in time might lead to loss of life and valuable property.
