Chitral: Traffic police fines drivers and transporters for for violating rules

Chitral, March 22: The traffic police in Chitral cracked down against transporters for overcharging passengers and violating other laws.
On the direction of District Police Officer (DPO) Ghulam Hussaintraffic police took action against transporters who are overcharging passengers coming to Chitral. According to the police they booked some 40 vehicles and collected 13500 rupees as fine from transporters and driver.
The DPO had received complaints from passengers that transporters getting extra fare from passengers coming from Islamabad, Peshawar, Temergara and Dir to Chitral. He directed traffic police who blockade the road near PIA office before Chitral bus stand.
They asked from passengers about fare who paid to transporters and fined transporters(drivers) on over charging from passengers. It is worth to mention here that main road of Chitral have been blocked at Lawari pass due to heavy snowfall and passengers can travel for two days a week through Lawari tunnel. But they are badly harassing by transporters at Dir and Peshawar and they collecting double fare from them.
These passengers are compelled to reach Chitral timely and transporters looting them badly.
Social and political circles have hailed this step by Chitral police and demanded from provincial government to directed police of other districts for crack down against transporters who looting poor passengers at other districts.
