FOCUS Pakistan conducted pre-monsoon preparedness session for GBDMA

Gilgit (PR): Focus Humanitarian Assistance (FOCUS) Pakistan, an affiliate of the Aga Khan Development Network, arranged a training session on pre-monsoon preparedness for officials of the Gilgit – Baltistan Disaster Management Authority.

The session was conducted by an expert from the Pakistan Meteorological Department, who shared information related to weather forecast for 2012, disaster trends, and weather patterns and the need for enhancing preparedness, and developing early warning and response plans for all districts of the province.  Through the sessions, DDMAs would prepare pre-monsoon response plans for their respective districts in order to deal with emergencies and reducing losses.

The training session was part of the project “Harnessing Capacities in Disaster Risk Reduction in the Hazardous Areas of Pakistan”. FOCUS Pakistan is holding similar training sessions for the DDMAs in other parts of the country.
